CONTEXT: The Syria proxy war is a geopolitical pipeline competition between Qatar-Turkey and Iran-Iraq-Syria. The Iran-Iraq-Syria pipeline was scuttled by US, Qatari, Saudi, and Turkish support to rebels to destablize Syria and get supremacy on selling gas shipments from the Persian Gulf to the European market while simultaneously weakening their regional geopolitical and (allegedly) religous rivals (Shia Iran, Iraq, and Syria). Now Turkey has set up its first military base in Qatar, right next to proxy-war ally Saudi Arabia and the Persian Gulf fossil fuels meant to revitalize the Saudi economy and thus Sunni (and an anti-Iran) power alliance in the region.
