A year after the group gathered one final time to put together their last collective offering to the public, John was well on his way to carving out an identity apart from The Beatles. "Instant Karma" had more or less kicked off his solo career just as things were coming to a head in their internal squabbles, and following months of "primal scream" therapy, John was ready to lay an array of demons piano chords to rest.

John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band was a one of a kind statement, purging his past while turning a cautious but optimistic eye toward the future. "Remember," a recollection of several none-too-happy memories, was built upon a chord sequence that John had actually used as he played piano on George's "Something." This extended instrumental coda was snipped off before the song was issued.
