Dear friend Brian - Until I read your most recent post I did not know this part of your story.

You may have noticed a recent post of mine, in which I wrote about having to face an ugly episode from my own past, one which I did an excellent job of avoiding for 35 years. The power of discrimination and hate is a terrible thing to know.

The only means I know of to overcome it is represented perfectly in things like what you wrote. We can sit mired in ugliness, or we can turn o...ur faces forward, and walk to the light bringing as many others with us as we can.

You already know I respect you, and I support you. We have become friends, and I love you as well. Know now too, how much I admire you. You are an inspiration.

Not to put any bad ju-ju on your upcoming race for the Michigan House of Representatives, but I wish you much luck, much hard work and much success in your duties there, after the election.

That will all be very good preparation for that wonderful day when we can put you in the Governor's Mansion in Lansing, where your skills and abilities, your vision and hard work, your intelligence and your inspiring example can benefit all of Michigan. Our state has great needs, and we need you.
