time in a bottle chords
The 4th song of my 7 day song challenge set by Gary Woolley.
Lush. Lush are like a religion to us fans. The band were (and are) so loved. Their 2016 return is like THE return of all returns for us.
At a time when I was broken and depressed and really cut off from what was then modern music they drew me back in. I was raving to people about this band that sounded like "..two girls singing on a cathedral with out of tune 12 string guitars" - but it sounded so full of wonder an...d heartache and rapture.
I suppose this is a dirge, I mean that in a positive way because it's a incredibly moving song. It's so unrock n'roll and so unconcerned with anything but it's own brooding intensity.
I was living in my Queens Road flat drinking those ciders that had come out, the black time in a bottle chords with the red K and Diamond White. I really went for it like a full on drug experience and this was my soundtrack.
"..and sometimes I think if I look at the phone it may ring/..and sometimes I worry and fear what tomorrow may bring.."
The "ooo-ooo"s at 2.18 and those Emma Anderson chords, how they resolve that, it's profoundly sad and profoundly beautiful. Hearing it again I feel it all again, my magical artistic autistic empathy that is both my blessing and my curse.
